explore. || Fan Friday

When the St. Louis Cardinals schedule was released and Opening Day was versus the Chicago Cubs, I knew I had to be there. Unfortunately, no one shared the same sentiments. What's a girl to do? Create a Journey to 30 list and make plans to head to Chicago.

First I needed to get ready so I went to see my favorite nail tech Henry at Forever French- Wichita, KS. I can't get over how amazing they turned out.

With my nails out of the way, I needed something to wear the night of the game. Since Opening Night happened on Easter Sunday Night, I obviously needed my high socks #highsockSunday. (you may need to be a Cardinals fan to get that one), My necklace was gifted to me at Christmas and has a cardinal and baseball charm inside and I'm convinced is my good luck charm for the 2015 Season!

After attending church, and checking out DMK Burger Bar featured on Diner's, Drive-Ins & Dives, I finally arrived at Wrigley Field, for my very first time!! - Think Christmas morning and getting everything  you asked for, that is about how it felt to be at Wrigley Field for the first time. I plan to take in a game at every MLB stadium before I die, checking this stadium off my list on Opening Night at a place with such rich baseball history was definitely worth going to the game by myself!

As you can see from the picture above, I arrived right when the gates opened. I was able to watch the last part of the Cubs batting practice and all of the Cardinals batting practice, PURE JOY!

As you can see I didn't stick with the original outfit I picked out, the forecast called for the temperature to dip so I decided for the long-sleeves red (my other good luck charm). It ended up dropping A LOT and I was bundled up, with hand-warmers sans gloves and the nice woman next to me was kind enough to share her blanket. I managed not to melt, even though it was Cubs blanket.

Oh, and bonus, Fall Out Boy performed. Concert and Opening Night, yes please.

The Cardinals won and all was right for the night! I had an amazing trip and I'm so glad I checked something else off my Journey to 30! I'll leave with a few thoughts to ponder that have baffled me before, during and after my solo trip. I don't know why some find it so hard to believe girls can travel alone...even to a city. I don't know why if you want to do something, you don't just do it. I don't know why it's so hard to believe that a girl can love sports so much. Tell me your thoughts, does anyone else run into people not understanding your independence or uniqueness?

Wishing you all a happy baseball season & as always GO CARDS!!!!
